How can I get a price to fit a cat flap?

Please use my website contact form to guide you through the information that I need. I will respond to you via email from there on

How long will it take to give me a price to fit a cat flap?

I am a sole trader, so it depends on what I am doing and how busy I am. It can be just a few minutes to an hour or so, or that evening to the following morning if I've been out fitting. I generally respond fairly quickly on a first come first serve basis. I will notify you of my timescale if a response will be delayed. Please check your junk mail as it can end up in there

How much is it to fit a cat flap?

It depends on the type of cat flap used, the material it is fitted into, the features of the material, and to some extent the travel distance. The price can range from less than one hundred pounds to several hundreds of pounds. The cheapest is a manual cat flap in a plain uPVC door, then other types of door, smaller areas of glass, walls, and finally the most expensive being a microchip cat flap in a large double glazed unit in a wooden frame with a security tape. The price I give you will be the price you pay, unless I have provided additional priced options. I usually identify any potential issues ahead of time, but occasionally I mis-identify or cannot see something from a photograph. I will discuss this with you at the time should any situation arise, although generally this will not be the case. With glass, this will be at the measuring stage and before manufacture

How much of a deposit do you require before starting work?

Nothing as I work on trust, and only require payment in full on completion. Glaziers generally ask for payment up front, as like myself they cannot have glass manufactured without at first paying for it. As I fit cat flaps in a wide range of materials rather than just solely in glass, then I carry the cost of manufacture until I complete the work. Glass double glazed units are taking longer to make than previously, but I am usually only waiting for a small number at a time. Should this change, then my financial exposure to the cost of units in manufacture may cause me to reconsider the need for a deposit on glass

What do you need to know to give me a price to fit a cat flap?

My contact form will guide you through this, with the essential items being an email address, your postcode, the type and size of cat flap you require (or the manufacturer and model if you will supply it) and a photo of the fitting area. The photo(s) required as appropriate are of the bottom half of a door (both sides if they are different), the glass door / window with the visible dimensions of the glass (width and height), or both sides of a wall

What does your cat flap fitting service include?

If I am to fit a cat flap that you supply, then it includes all of the sundry materials neccessary for the fitting, with any required parts being extra unless they are also supplied. If I am to supply and fit the cat flap, then I include everything required, such as batteries, to provide a fully functining cat flap

What other types of work do you do?

As a sole trader, I specialise in the supply and fitting of cat flaps and dog doors in doors, glass and walls. Most advertised cat flap 'fitters' are actually builders, glaziers or handymen (people). By specialising in a single area I can fit cat flaps in materials that others may exclude, such as in composite doors. It has allowed me to develop expertise and methods that are uniquely focussed, to understand the needs of your cat, and to recognise the potential issues involved in any fitting. The only other specialist that I can recommend is Phil Foulger of Four Paws Doors
